Bill 59 Putting Consumers First – Home Inspection

Putting Consumers first!

Finally we have an Act of Parliament that is supposed to be for the consumers and their protection. Ontarioachi ( ontarioachi.ca) has been fighting to get licensing for Home Inspection since 2012 and now it appears to be coming to fruition.

What this means for a Realtor is that ALL Home Inspectors will have to be licensed to work in Ontario. Designations/affiliations are a Home Inspectors personal choice and are not representative of licensing, so don’t be fooled. Only a Licensed Home Inspector will be allowed to perform Home Inspections so make sure whomever you choose is in fact licensed as there is a hefty fine for not being licensed and the inspection itself would not legally be valid.

The whole idea for a Home Inspection is to help find the items in the home which are readily accessible for the Home Inspector to comment on so that the buyer can make an informed choice.
